So I got home from work today to find a letter in the mail from the state physicians that I see. There is a big state hospital here on Long Island and that's who my RE and my midwife are through. Well this fabulous letter said that as of Sept 2 (yup a day that already passed and I had a appt that day!) my husbands insurance will no longer be accepted for Obstetrics/Gynecology Practices!! And the crazy part....my husband works for the state and has state insurance!!!! So what they are telling me is that the physicians that work for the state are not excpeting state insurance!! How screwed up can you be that you can't work it out??? And seriously do the women who go to specialists not have enough on their plate already??? Now I have to deal with this?
So I have an appt for a sono and b/w tomorrow and am now considered out of network and have to pay!! The thing is hubby and I just can't afford it. Tack that on to what we pay for acupuncture, all the dang copays for b/w and all the prescriptions and there is no way we can pay out pocket. I love my doctor and am just heartbroken that I am going to have to change doctors and when we finally do get pregnant, find a different midwive. Currently I hate New York State!

I'm sorry! That really does suck. And so stupid. But I deal with health insurance company's all day and they are all a pain in the ass! It's pretty sad how bad some of them are.
I hope you can work something out.

I am so sorry! I also work for the state (a different state), and it cut all infertility coverage (check out my "Insurance Changes" post from August). I totally feel for you. You're not alone!

Obviously reform is needed. I am SO sorry that this has happened and even given you more un-needed stress!
