Once again I can't thank you ladies enough for giving me the strength and confidence to switch my midwives.  I was really struggling with whether or not I was doing the right thing and all your comments on my last post helped more than you know.  Honestly, where would I be without you wonderful friends??!!

So we went to meet the other midwife and officially made the change.  We see only her and one other person if she has a birth that night.  This group is much more personal and far less "medical" than the ones I was seeing prior.  Although all of the women at my old office were great, they are connected with the hospital and I believe this makes them more like Dr's than midwives in certain situations.  I am now with an independent midwife group that does deliveries at one of the local hospitals.  We didn't have a whole heck of a lot of time to get to know each other, but I go back on the 5th just to talk and learn about one another.  She also re-wrote my script to get a u/s!!!  I go this Fri to see our baby girl again for the first time since Feb!!!  Can't wait!!  I do have a question though.  The lady who made my appt told me to drink 32oz of water an hour before!!!  Lets be real!!!  That is just not even possible.  Has anyone else been told to do something so absurd so far along?  I'm assuming not many folks come in for sono's so late and she is just used to telling the pregnant patients to do this.  Any advice/insight on the matter is welcomed.

I also finally got in to see the Cardiologist.  Let me just tell you, if every Dr's office ran as smoothly and everyone was as wonderful and pleasant as this place, going to see them would be a lot easier.  She did some test where they put sticky things on your chest and said that my resting heart rate was high.  So I am waiting for my insurance co to approve a heart monitor I need to wear for 2 days and then get an echocardiogram.  She is not super concerned as she feels that my lack of water and type of work play a part and that resting alone will bring it down.  She wanted me to stop working, but I talked her down to reduced hours at least until after Memorial Day.  I will be re-evaluated on the 2nd when I go back to go over the tests.  Once this big holiday is over, I don't think I will struggle so much with leaving work.  It is just so hard because I run the program and I have done the same thing every spring/summer for 13 years.  I love these little birdies and am just worried about them.  But I need to start focusing on my baby girl now.  Only 45 more days until our due date, so no time like the present!

In other news, God continues to supply for us beyond anything we could imagine.  My hubby learned on Wed that he was promoted to Lieutenant!!!  It was a promotion he shouldn't even have been considered for and ended up getting!!!  I am so incredibly proud of him!!  He starts in a new region this Thurs.  He is nervous and excited at the same time.  Please pray that all goes well for him during this big transition.

Also, on  Tues my psycho in law (brothers wife) gave birth to a little baby girl.  She was only 5lbs 11oz, but healthy and didn't require the NICU.  Although we are not close I did get to see her and am happy she is well.  When I held her I just couldn't comprehend that soon I will be holding my own precious baby girl.  I can't wait!!!

Happy to hear you have a new midwife and got to see the cardiologist. It's helpful to have a full bladder before an u/s, but 32 oz sounds excessive. That is great that you finally get to peek at your baby girl again! Congrats to your husband on the promotion!

So glad you made the switch to the new midwife. I really think you did the right thing. As for the drinking water thing, that sounds absurd to me. I've had an u/s at least once every two weeks for most of my pregnancy (and now once a week) and have never been told to do that. If you're really worried, just give them a call and double check.

I'm glad that you got in to see the cardiologist, and also that you have some people on your side with regard to your work schedule and maternity leave. Hard to believe the end is so near!!

Glad to hear good news! Good for you for switching. :) I don't think you need that much water! I had tons of ultrasounds with Baby Sam and only needed water like that at the beginning...I think. :) Good luck!

Happy you made the switch. I had to wear the heart monitor too and get an echo as well. Good luck with the heart monitor. I don't believe you can take it off at all. :( But it will give you peace of mind once you know everything is ok. Hope you are doing well. Thanks for the update!

What a huge blessing to get a promotion without even looking for one! And I'm so glad that things are working out beautifully with the new set of midwives. Hang in there!
