It's 1:15am and for the third night in a row I have ended up in the living on the chair with my feet up on the otttoman.  About 4 days ago I was telling someone how well sleeping was still going for me....lol!!!  For some strange reason at the 36.3 week mark I started dealing with severe indigestion, but only at night.  Although I have reflux almost daily and have actually thrown up a few times in the past couple weeks, it didn't tend to bother me at night and I was fairing pretty well.  Unfortunately that is no longer the case.

It's funny.  Everyone tells you that the last month is the toughest but I had convinced myself that if I had gotten this far without too many complaints, I should be fine.  I think the most annoying part is when I say that I'm not sleeping and someone always has to follow up with something along the lines of, "Get used to it" or "it's your body preparing for the lack of sleep you will get when your baby arrives".  Yeah thanks!

So does anyone have any remedies for indigestion?  I have been popping Tums like they've been going out of style and trying to drink milk (but I'm lactose intolerant so this usually lands me in the bathroom).  I am open to any suggestions!!

Aww, I feel your pain. It felt like I could breathe fire most nights. Unfortunately I don't have a remedy for it, just suffered through it. :( Trying to sleep propped up helped some but not much. You're sooo close to the finish line and sorry to say, this part is the hardest on the body. I hope you find some relief so you can get some rest. Thinking of you!

Bummer! While you were up with indigestion...I was up coughing. Not a good night for either of us. :( I drink rice milk instead of cow milk. I wonder if it (or soy milk) would give you the calming effect without the other complications. Hang in there!

ugh man that sucks! hope you got some sleep last night! I had really bad heartburn the other day and tried drinking soy milk but that did squat - so sorry to say, that doesn't really help. A tall glass of milk did, though. Don't they have lactose free milk?

OMG! You sound exactly like I was those last few weeks. I too thought I would be fine and that some women just exagerate the end being so bad. I mean it wasn't horrible, but by 40 weeks 4 days I was pretty dang used to just being uncomfortable 24/7!! lol
And as for the comments, I used to get those every day too! About get used to no sleep. Well I'm sorry to say, but they were right about that also! lol But things do get better and the end result is worth all that and more. ♥
(sorry i have no remedies for the indigestion. i had it starting at 10 weeks and nothing ever really worked besides the tums helped a little. oh and walking after meals)

Bleh. That's no fun. I've been taking Zantac in the morning and at night for the past few months, and it has helped tremendously. Of course, there are times I have to have Maalox, too. I hope you get feeling better soon!

That sucks Dawn! But I have some help which comes via my sister. She has acid reflux disease, so definitely knows best. I'm already dealing with heartburn so I've been given her advice early. First of all you have to sleep elevated very important, so add some extra pillows, it's not comfortable but keeps the acid flowing in the right direction. Second, she says when the acid rears it's ugly head, reach for plain BREAD (un-toasted). I eat a slice of fresh bread with nothing on it as soon as I feel the burn. She says it soaks up the acid in your belly like nothing else. She puts a little peanut butter on hers (very little) as she can't stand the taste of plain bread alone. I find this works REALLY well. So probably seeing that you get this at night. Eat a piece of fresh bread just before you go to bead, and keep a slice next to you so if you feel it coming on in the night, have a quick snack in bed.

    Hope this helps,

    Christa.

Well, unfortunately, I don't have any advice to give you(because I haven't had the chance to experience any of those "wonderful"pregnancy symptoms just yet) but I wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" for commenting on my blog post. I'm new to this(obviously lol) and it means a lot to me to know that someone is taking the time to read "my story". Blogging and reading success stories help ease my mind and give me hope that one day I, too, can write about my pregancy. So again, THANK YOU! I hope you have a great day!

I'm sorry you're having such a terrible time sleeping with the reflux. I remember there were a few nights towards the end of my pregnancy with D when I was miserable from that. I think it's one of those awful unavoidable things because your stomach (and all of your other organs) are so squished up by the baby at the end. Thanks goodness pregnancy doesn't last any longer than it does. We would never make it! :)

ok so I popped Tums smoothies like it was my business...but besides that...cause i didn't want to get a prescription...I watched what I ate...anything acid based was the worst...pasta sause...certain fruits and juices...I lived on the recliner from about 20 weeks on...I had heartburn so bad...but Zach came out with a head full of thick hair so the heartburn was well worth it!
I can not believe you are down to 22 days...how funny...I remember reading your blog way before you got pregnant and here you are going to be a mommy anyday now!

I had it with my 4th and it was a nightmare. My OBGYN recommended Zantac - and it was a miracle med! BTW, one of my sons had esophagitus with severe pain - and he cannot have caffeine, chocolate or mint - bread products cause mine:)

    Hope it works!
