I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since our precious miracle Addy entered our lives!! On one hand it seems like it's flying, while on the other hand it feels like ages ago! So what has life with Addy been like? Busy!! LOL! The first week was super hectic with people coming and going. My mom and sis were here helping which was great! When my sis left (she is not local) I cried about 5 times that day. Josh's parents came in that Fri and stayed 5 days and then his brother was in town for training. Although the help was HUGE, I am happy to have had the past couple of days with just hubby, Addy & I. Hubby took off for 2 weeks, and goes back Mon. Needless to say I am trying not to think about it because just the thought alone makes me cry. I seriously have the worlds best hubby. He has done so much for Addy & I already. He has kept the house clean, made me breakfast every morning and run out to the store more times than I can count. I am so very thankful for him.
The biggest thing we've dealt with besides guests was definitely getting used to BFing. The first week was SO terribly difficult. I was blessed in that I had an amazing team of women to help/support me. Our Bradley instructor (now our friend) came over the first day to make sure all was going well, giving me pointers and just overall encouragement. In addition, our midwife came back twice that week (as a result of doing a homebirth) and I was able to barrage her with as many questions as I could think of. Luckily after the first 10 days or so, things have gotten less painful. The only issue I have now is that she likes to latch then release then latch then release...etc. Ugh it drives me nuts. Doesn't make the boobs too happy either. But she is feeding well and we went back to the Ped yesterday and found out she gained 15 oz in one week!! Woohoo!! She is now 8.1lbs. It was so nice to be reassured. It's so hard not knowing how much she is taking in and just hoping that all her pee-pee and poo-poo diapers are a good enough indication. We go back in 2 weeks to weigh her again.
We have also starting using cloth diapers a little earlier than planned. We went with cloth 1) because we both work in the environmental field and filling up a landfill just didn't seem right to either of us, 2) it's cheaper & 3) I have terrible skin allergies and feared that Addy might have them as well. After 3 days in disposables she ended up getting a terrible rash (not your typical diaper rash) and that's when we realized she did have mommy's skin. So we started using the cloth diapers and I'm so glad we did! I dreaded this, cuz I was so scared it would be more work and more difficult but really it's not!! Her skin looks great too! She just looks like she's got quite the badunkadunk in them...LOL.
Luckily, Addy is the worlds best sleeper!!! We actually have to wake her up in the middle of the night to feed her. The Dr initially didn't want us to let her sleep more than 4 hours until we saw how her weight was doing. Now that we see she is getting enough milk, we can let her go up to 5 (still getting the same amount of feedings per day). Even then, we have to wake her up in the middle of the night sometimes. She is currently in a cradle in our bedroom, but I am nervous about hubby going back to work and waking her up when he wakes up. We'll try it out and see how things go this week. I'm really not prepared for her to be in the nursery yet so I hope it does work out. During the day she is also a champ but definitely has her fussy time between 6-8pm. During this time I usually have to come up with some means of calming her down. She loves the sling so that tends to work best. I am really just taking it one day at a time and getting to know her. I do fall more and more in love with her every day. It's amazing how much I love her. It is also amazing how much more I love my husband. God has been so so good to us.
Well that is life with Addy so far. It has been a great 2 weeks and looking to a lifetime more.

Sounds like things are going well! I'm so glad. And yay for starting with the CDs so early! Way to go -- I couldn't manage to start until Eliza was closer to a month old. Hope Monday goes okay with the hubby gone; I remember how hard that was :(

So glad that things are going well! Can I ask what type of cloth diapers you are using? I'm hoping to use them as well, and would love your feedback.
